At Lakeland Furniture, our Eames Inspired dining chairs embody the aesthetic essence of the originals. They remain as they were intended and always should be, mostly without upholstery, in accord with the Eameses wishes that the materials should be expressed with honesty and integrity, yet not self-consciously.

Charles Eames (1907-1978) was probably the most influential designer of the twentieth century. He was born in St Louis, Missouri and studied in Michigan under the Finnish Architect, Eliel Saarinen at Cranbrook Academy of Art. It was there that he met Alexandra 'Ray' Kaiser, who became his second wife and is now credited with having played an equal part with Charles in many of their designs. Together they designed the Eames House in Pacific Palisades, California which was a ground breaking project using prefabricated industrial parts and became their home for many years. In furniture design they worked to create good quality items that were affordable for most people and sought to do away with the need for upholstery by using moulded forms that provided both comfort and support. And the continued popularity of their designs shows that they succeeded. The Eames Eiffel Chair, Organic Chair, RAR Chair, and the DAW Chair. A contemporary dining chair would look divine amongst nearly every furniture setting. View our superb range of Reproduction Charles Eames Dining Chairs below.
