Creating the Perfect Children's Bedroom

12th October 2017

Having little ones can be hard. You're always run ragged off your feet, making three different dinners and picking up school bags left, right and centre. The little angels can be pretty demanding - we get it. However, seeing the look on their faces when they're happy is what we do it for, right? We want to help you create the perfect fairytale bedroom for your little prince or princess.

First things first, the bed

Of course, if you've got a really tiny one, you'll be looking at getting a cot. For toddlers, try a transitional bed that has removable sidebars. This way, you won't need to splash out on another bed when they're getting a little bigger.

Daybeds are always a sure-fire winner with kids. There is something really magical about them. Plus, they are a little safer than your regular bed as they only have one open side! A daybed will make a perfect centrepiece for your child's new room. Decorate with their favourite quilt, blanket and colourful pillows to make it really cosy. Our daybeds with built-in trundles would be perfect for your kids to have friends round for a sleepover. No more makeshift floor beds! Have a look through our range of daybeds, we're positive you'll find something delightful.

Of course, the little princess in your life might really love this next idea. Growing up, having a net canopy draped over the head of your bed was the ultimate dream. Well, why not give it to your child? It could transform their bedroom into a true Cinderella room without much else needed.

Storage is key

We know that children love having stuff. Lots of stuff. If your child has an abundance of toys, you will need to seek out a good way to store them. If you're short on space, try a storage seat. These can double up as somewhere for you to sit and read a bedtime story, and stow away all those pesky catalogue toys.

Putting up shelves is a good way to keep clutter off the floor. You could dedicate a shelf to cuddly toys which will not only please your little one but also give the room some effortless decorative detail.

Adding fun to the walls

Children love things to be fun. Even though a simplistic white wall might please you, little details will sit better with the kids. Try hanging things across the wall like animal-themed bunting or flower garlands. If you have creative children, try putting up a corkboard for them to pin all of their artwork! (You then don't have to make an excuse for binning it...)

Your child may appreciate a wall dedicated to pictures of them, their friends and family. You could do this as a project together: take lots of pictures during outings and let them help you pick all the best ones for the 'photo wall'.

Blackboard paint is a fantastic way to let them explore their creativity without having to take up floor space. Hang up an empty frame and paint the inside of it with special blackboard paint. Perhaps secure an old paint pot full of chalks to the wall. This will keep your child entertained forever! Plus, it's an easy way to switch up the wall decor.
