How to guide: cleaning plastic dining chairs

We're massive fans of plastic dining chairs here at Lakeland Furniture. You might be able to tell by the huge and varied range we have on offer! There are a number of reasons that these chairs are so popular across homes, offices, cafes and plenty more places. Plastic dining chairs come in a variety of colours and styles, so anyone can enjoy them in any type of space. And they're also relatively inexpensive compared to a lot of other types of furniture. Finally, and most importantly, plastic chairs are super easy to clean. That's why we always recommend them to customers with big families and crazy households!

What you'll need:

  • Microfiber¬†cloth or a feather duster
  • Baby wipes
  • Washing-up liquid and warm water
  • Kitchen roll
  • White spirit

The method

1. First things first, you should ensure that you regularly dust your plastic chairs with a feather duster or microfiber cloth. Keeping on top of a dusting routine will ensure your chairs remain in good condition from the very beginning! 2. Secondly, use a damp cloth every week or so (during your normal cleaning routine) to wipe down the chairs and get rid of any marks or spillages. 3. If the marks are stubborn or need a little extra cleaning, try using a baby wipe. For cleaning plastic dining chairs, it doesn't get much better than a good old-fashioned baby wipe! Rub the affected area thoroughly with a wipe and wait for it to dry. 4. For really stubborn marks, and only as a last resort, use a small amount of white spirit poured onto a piece of kitchen roll. Blot the mark gently, being careful not to rub too hard or cover too much of the chair. It might be wise to do a spot test on the underside of your chair first to test for any de-colouration! 5. Every now and then, when you want to do a deep clean, you should mix a solution of washing-up liquid in a bucket of warm water. Use a cloth to gently clean the chair with the soapy water then pat dry with kitchen roll or a dry cloth.
