The Top Houseplant Trends for Spring 2018

23rd April 2018

Houseplants aren't going anywhere...

From leafy prints on bedsheets to palm tree-shaped photo frames, it's safe to say the plant trend is here to stay. But why not go all out? Investing in houseplants is a great way to bring nature into the home and remain bang on trend. We also think plants in the house can help to make you feel a little more summery - especially if you work from home or spend a lot of time indoors. That said, plants are great for all year round and can be really beneficial to your health. So we see no excuse to not get involved!

What's hot at the moment?

Like we said, plants are great at any time of the year. Of course, if you're anything like us, you might struggle to keep them live for the entire 12-month duration. And trends come and go... meaning different types of houseplant are suitable for the different seasons. Let's take a look at what is going on in Spring this year...

Marantaceae

This tropical looking plant is set to be hot stuff this spring/summer. You may have heard it called by its less formal name: "prayer-plant". These flowering plants boast big, starchy leaves that turn any modern home into a tropical jungle!

Ficus benghalensis 'Audrey'

For something a little more understated, we love the 'Audrey' plant. Featuring delicate leaves and a spindly branch, this houseplant is perfect for adding a touch of Pinterest style to your home. Fun fact: it's part of the fig tree family! Tuck it up into a corner in a simple, clean pot to bring your room to life.

Aloe vera

One of the classics. Everyone knows aloe vera and we probably use it every day in some beauty product or another. However, why not have your very own aloe vera plant at home? It'll certainly be a great addition to your medicine cupboard! (Although we recommend keeping it on display!). It not only looks beautiful but it works miracles, too.

Ficus elastica

The clue's in the name - you may have heard of this plant's less formal name: "Rubber Plant". The Rubber Plant is a simple yet elegant houseplant and is small enough to house on windowsills or mantelpieces. It's an easy way to add a touch of greenery to any room but it looks particularly nice in the conservatory or the living room. It's also quite an easy houseplant to take care of.

Pinterest inspiration

As always, we can count on Pinterest to be a great source of inspiration for any aspect of home decor and interior design. We found this particularly beautiful mood board for houseplant ideas and we couldn't wait to share it with you!
