If poor quality rattan is scratched, the painted surface will clearly show the damage. On the other hand,   So, here's how to fix them.

What you'll need:

Now, if you want to repair scratches on your rattan, there are two different methods to bear in mind. The below materials are not all necessary at the same time. However, you might want to try one first then the other to see which gets the best results.

  • Hairdryer
  •  Soft cloth
  • Epoxy resin
  • Paint to match rattan

The Methods:

Hairdryer and soft cloth method: Use a hairdryer to slowly warm up the rattan furniture and create a gentle heat. Do this over the area of the scratches. The rattan material will start to become softer under the heat. Then, you can buff out the scratches with a dry, soft cloth. Rub vigorously for the best effect. Epoxy resin and paint method: Identify any areas where you need to repair scratches on your garden furniture. Then, fill in the scratches carefully with the epoxy resin. Let this dry for 24 hours in a well-ventilated area - outside would be preferable! Once the resin has fully dried, you can use paint or varnish to colour in the rattan. The finished product should match with the rest of the furniture.
