Ever find yourself asking this question? Well, you've come to the right place! In the next of our helpful guides, we're going to tackle how to properly clean your faux leather office chair. What you'll need

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Dish soap/mild detergent
  • Warm water
  • Bucket
  • Two microfibre cloths
  • Faux leather conditioner
  • Baby oil
  • Sponge

The method

  1. You should always start cleaning any upholstery by vacuuming first. This is to remove any surface dirt or dust. Make sure this is a regular part of your cleaning routine - a build-up of dust can soon become pressed-in and make your faux leather office chair really dirty and harder to clean!
  2. Mix warm water and dish soap in a bucket to create a cleaning solution. Then, take a cloth, dip it in and wring it out. You can now clean the entire surface of the faux leather. Wipe your office chair down with the warm, soapy water and then wipe dry with a second, dry microfibre cloth.
  3. Now that your office chair is clean, you can condition it. This is a great step to carry out as it will keep the faux leather looking and feeling nice. It's important to maintain your furniture if you want it to stay good as new! Now, you can choose to use a professional product (like this one) as a faux leather conditioner or use a homemade option. If you want to go DIY, simply take some baby oil and pour a little on a sponge. Then, use the sponge to wipe lightly over the faux leather. Make sure to spot test on an inconspicuous area before treating the whole surface.
  4. Allow to dry naturally in an airy, light room - preferably by an open window if possible! You'll notice how shiny, clean and lovely your chair is looking once it's completely dry.
Top tip: Try to maintain and clean your faux leather office chair around once a month to keep it looking new. You should also quickly clean any spillages as and when they occur to prevent a nasty build-up.
